   I've no scientific expertise, but recommend an MSDS referral.   
      
   My memories of 100% lye as drain cleaner are all I have, but I treated   
   it as much more serious than bleach. Bleach never sputtered and   
   spattered when near water. I recall a blocked bathtub drain shooting   
   up droplets rather vigorously.   
      
   Better yet, if you have access to a self-clearing oven, just shove the   
   pans in there and run the cycle. Much easier. Much neater. Much safer.
