   I've had that experience as well. I made a modest donation to a reputable   
   organzation and was subsequently inundated with mailings for years before they   
   stopped. I guess statistically one is much more likely to make repeat   
   donations   
   after having given once (whether through guilt or otherwise), so it makes sense   
   spend more to target people who have already given as opposed to those who   
   haven't.
