   a) Yes, it's Pender, not Pinder or Penders   
   b) Max is the bandleader and Jimmy is usually in sketches more when he's   
   acting band leader   
   c) La Bamba has the hat and they've developed a 'character' (perverted much   
   like Max) around him in the past just because Conan likes picking on him.   
   Perhaps off-camera he's fun to pick on as well.   
   d) Jerry Vivino (the saxaphonist) actually is in more sketches than the guys   
   in the back. Pender really isn't in that many if you take out the ones where   
   he sings (and that's probably because he's good at the singing crazily).   
      
   I suspect the other two (and somewhat Jerry) are less used because they   
   don't act as well, or make faces that well, are quieter, etc. In The Year   
   2000 make La Bamba more recognizable than the other band members early on,   
   so it makes sense that he's used more. The others are used in sketches, but   
   it's usually when it's entire-band sketches.
