   Because they're trying to get people under 40 to watch the Emmys.   
      
   Slightly more serious speculation:  Leno's busier than Conan; not only   
   does he do new episodes five nights a week, but he also does a lot of   
   weekend stand-up performances, both in clubs (sometimes announced,   
   sometimes unannounced) and private shows for corporate events and the   
   like.
