Was it a particular sketch or a particular stretch of       > shows? If so, then who?              I think it was at home on summer break from college -- circa 1997 -- when I       lazily left the TV on after watching "The Tonight Show." The raciness of       the humor on "Late Night" surprised and often disgusted me at first, but       gradually I began to appreciate the way that Conan took more chances than       Leno and Letterman, and over time I began watching more of Conan and less       of the others. I found Conan more likeable than Craig Kilborn, and "Late       Night" usually had hipper, more cutting-edge musical acts than the other       shows on after 11:30.              I don't think a specific sketch made me a fan, but I certainly remember       Triumph's "for me to poop on!" rants, Conan and Andy's staring contests,       and remote segments such as the one Conan did from Ireland in the late '90s.              > 2. Boring, I know. I don't think shame was a       factor in it at all -- I was basically content to stick to the standard       options. Chalk it up to the ignorance of youth. Now that I'm more       knowledgeable and discriminating about what I eat, I simply avoid fast-food       places altogether if possible.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
