From: ddrewc@verizonSPAMBEGONE.net              Kelly Preston:               - This is her first time on the show. I would not have guessed that.               - She's been married to John Travolta for nearly sixteen years. She       was a fan of his before she met him -- when she was about sixteen years       old, she saw a poster of "Grease" in a movie theater and just knew that she       would be with him. Travolta likes to tease her, saying that she saw his       photo and walked out saying in an aristocratic accent, ``I'm going to marry       that man!'' Conan says she was a very determined 16-year-old.               - Sometimes she asks her husband to be characters from his old       movies, like Tony from "Grease" or Bud from "Urban Cowboy." Conan's wife is       the same way, telling him to be ``awkward and weird'' like he is on the show.               - They show a photo of her home with a Boeing 707 and another smaller       plane parked outside. Her husband, a longtime pilot, grew up thinking       everyone would have a plane. It's a trip, she says. They can tell he's come       home by the sound of the plane engine. (Conan: ``He walks in, and it's       like, `Yeah, yeah. Tough day at the office. And I blew out my right       engine.' '') Sometimes he'll spontaneously fly her someplace for dinner.               - Sometimes her husband wears a pilot's uniform, made by Armani,       while flying. She finds it hot. Conan thinks it would be funny if he wore       it all the time.               - Once they had to fly on a commercial airline. It didn't work so       well, being stuck on a plane for five hours with lots of people around       saying hello and passing babies over the seat, etc. Conan: ``Better to just       fly your own 707, I always say. That's how I handle those situations.''               - She's working on a movie, "Old Dogs," with her husband and her       7-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu. Robin Williams is in it, too.               - The movie she's here to promote, "Death Sentence," is an action       thriller about a family who loses a son to a gang initiation killing. The       director was James Wan, who did "Saw" (which she didn't see). Kevin Bacon       plays her husband, who snaps and resorts to vigilantism. They show a clip       of a quiet, intense scene in the film with her and Bacon.                     Ryan Reynolds:               - Just did the Teen Choice Awards. It's the first time in his life       he's felt old, because he didn't know a lot of the people there. He says       most of the people there were ``invisible to me... dead to me,'' because he       doesn't watch much television. Conan thinks it would be funny if he told       them that. Ryan thinks the people there were so young, the show should be       called the Fetus Choice Awards. Conan seems to know a lot more than Ryan       about the teen pop scene, which may be why they won't let him in.               - He just returned from a safari in Africa. It's like the show       "Survivor," ``except it's just the animals that are screwing each other.''       Their guide warned them to stay inside the jeep or risk being eaten. He saw       a lion up close and ``felt like the unlucky half of Siegfried and Roy.''       Once he got over all the urinating in terror, he found it quite beautiful.               - Conan asks if he wore a typical safari outfit. Ryan says he didn't       know it was winter there, so he brought shorts, sunscreen, and ``tiger       repellent'' (which, he found, doesn't work) and ended up having to buy       touristy safari gear that was more appropriate for the weather. The animals       were laughing at him, he thinks, as he passed by.               - He was in Africa to visit an orphanage, Friends of Mulanje Orphans       (FOMO), started by a woman he had met named Mary Woodworth. He painted a       nursery and built a borehole and did other odd jobs to help out. Conan asks       if people adopted any of the children from the orphanage. Ryan says he       didn't because he's ill-suited to have one: ``I'd be the only person in the       history of orphanages in which the kid actually asks to go back to the       third-world country.''               - They talk about his latest film, "The Nines," in which he plays       three different characters who may not be as different as they seem. One is       a famous actor who has a nervous breakdown, does some crack, crashes his       car, and is put under house arrest -- like that would ever happen in       Hollywood. They show a clip in which his character talks about his not       having a belly button and ponders the mortal consequences of that.               - Conan asks Ryan about his workout regimen, ``because you're a very       funny guy, and yet you also are incredibly built up, and that angers me.''       Ryan replies, ``I like to exercise -- a lot of Chuck Norris exercise       equipment. That way it's hard work /and/ funny.''                     Ozomatli:               - Plays "Here We Go" from their album "Don't Mess with the Dragon."       It's an up-tempo blend of music of many extractions, including Latin pop       (horns and bongoes), rock (electric guitars), and hip-hop (there's a rap       interlude in the middle). There's not much in the song lyrically other than       "here we go," but I guess that it's meant to be a dancing/partying tune,       and it serves that purpose adequately.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
