   James Lipton:   
   	- Thanks for doing all the comedy bits for us.   
   	   
   	- 'Inside Inside' is his life story.  Did he consider other   
   titles?  For 13 years he's been creator and host of 'Inside The Actors   
   Studio'; what's a better title?  And he goes deeply inside himself, too.   
    Conan says 'Inside Inside' the way Lipton would say it and Lipton says   
   it the way Conan would say it; it's an Abbot and Costello routine.   
   	   
   	- He arranged private sex shows in Paris.  He was young and   
   penniless without work permits.  So a woman friend suggested he could be   
   her mac ... sort of (here goes the rest of my life) as pimp.  ``So you   
   were a French pimp?''  No, absolutely not.  I was an American pimp   
   living in France.  And the statute of limitations has run out several   
   times.   
   	   
   	- Nowadays, prostitution is unlawful and unthinkable worldwide   
   but in those good old days of whoring it up, the men worked for the   
   young women.  He watched live sex shows: did he ever join in?  Lipton   
   panels the audience.  He did not; he carried clientele to the room and   
   had to remain there as they -- young Americans, generally -- never saw   
   such a thing before.  ``Would you like to see something that is perhaps   
   more interesting than Notre Dame and Saint Chapel?''  They would ask for   
   certain things and he must translate.  And oh, the French words he must   
   know.   
   	   
   	- There is a stunning Barbara Walters sex story in the book.   
   Not exactly.  You'll have to read it to find out.  He called Walters to   
   say she was in his book.  She made an earlier book of his a bestseller.   
   Does she remember that night in '68 when he gave a party at the bordello   
   where he worked?  ... Conan says they will find out as they'll get the   
   book.  Lipton panels the audience to see if they will.   
   	   
   	- His friends asked him to give a party in his old haunt.  He   
   ordered them to give champagne and hors d'ouevres, and no services.   
   Toward the end of the evening they were beginning to 'work' again and   
   asking guests if they wished to come upstairs.  Only one said yes:   
   Barbara Walters was going up with two women.  He is certain to this day   
   that it was not the intrepid sensualist but the intrepid reporter going   
   up.   
   	   
   	- There are many guests on the cover, and in the book, and   
   you'll learn things you never knew about them.   
   	   
   	- Conan searches the book.  ``You're there.''  You tell this   
   story?  That was between us, I thought!  When he was at Harvard he was   
   at a sex ring but that's for the book ... guy's gotta eat!
