   	You can't blame the networks for wanting new episodes: all the   
   shows have taken nasty ratings hits, although somehow Letterman's had   
   less of one than Leno has even though Letterman seems to be sticking   
   to the two weeks from before the strike to show.  (I have no idea what   
   Leno's showing.)  It's hard to not see this as probing to gauge reaction   
   from writers, other unions, and audiences before pressing Conan and Leno   
   to go back on the air, either.
