   	Whatever course the strike does take from here, Conan's going   
   to cover the salaries for the non-writing production staff of Late   
   Night, which amounts to about eighty people:

   	David Letterman has been good enough to cover the salaries for   
   the Late Show and the Late Late Show from the production budget for   
   Worldwide Pants.  NBC Universal hasn't been willing to make the same   
   expense, so Conan's just doing it out of his own bank account.  Just   
   in case it weren't already acknolwedged that Conan's a really nice   
   guy.   
      
   	Also, apparently, in search of things to do some of Late Night's   
   production staff has taken to growing beards, which should pass the   
   time:
