Writers Strike: Day 36 - If this goes on

Hollywood Reporter is speculating that if the Writers Strike
doesn't clear up by the new year it could have the side effect of
getting the networks to do prime-time news coverage of the presidential
campaigns. NBC already has a whole hour dedicated to the 5 February
string of twenty primaries, and other networks might even do more than
drop in occasional reports in the midst of entertainment programming:

While I certainly would rather have normal programming, and
don't like the thought of a strike going on for four months, it does
seem to me that network news coverage of a presidential election, if
it were carried out by the grown-ups rather than the hollering idiots
that run cable news, would be a good thing for the nation.
