   	Curiously, Jay Leno's somehow managed to get in trouble for   
   his return with a writerless show, while Conan hasn't yet.  I don't   
   know if this reflects differences in preparation (I don't watch Leno),   
   or if Conan is a smaller enough target -- or is blessed with a nice   
   guy charisma that Leno seems weirdly to have lost in recent years --   
   that he's not worth fussing over.  Of course, things like playing the   
   guitar are ... not spontaneous, of course, but also not written in the   
   ways the Writers Guild would watch for either.   
      
   	Whether Conan is actually writing things before saying them,   
   he has done a good job the first three days of giving the feel of an   
   essentially improvised and spontaneous first segment.
