|    Writers Strike: Day 69 - Novelty Acts In    |
|    12 Jan 08 13:50:30    |
From: nebusj-@-rpi-.edu               I'd like to have it on record how pleased I am with first the       dog act with the lady from the Big Apple Circus on Wednesday and then       the comic-country singers from Friday. Since the extinction event       that wiped out variety shows you don't tend to see things like that       anymore, and they're fun in reasonable amounts. On the off chance       that the strike continues to drag on, I hope that Late Night does its       best to find odd and slightly whimsical things like this that haven't       really been on TV since, well, the last writer's strike.               By the way, for all you kids who don't remember when Late Night       featured this guy named David Letterman: sending a guy up to buy all       the food from a vending machine is the kind of thing that made Late       Night With David Letterman such a cool show. Although I do have the       feeling he'd have thought to have the two guys, once the two were there,       race one another at parallel vending machines.               If Late Night does take anything away from the strike, I hope       it's the realization of just how little formula Conan does need.              --        Joseph Nebus       ------------------------------------------------------------------------------              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
