From: nebusj-@-rpi-.edu              first@nospam.nul writes:              >Reports: Fallon to succeed Conan on 'Late Night'       >By FRAZIER MOORE 4 days ago              >NEW YORK (AP) Jimmy Fallon appears to be inching closer to Conan       >O'Brien's "Late Night" chair. For months, Fallon has been widely       >considered the top choice to succeed O'Brien when he steps down next       >year. On Thursday, published reports said Fallon has signed, or soon       >will sign, a deal with NBC.              >NBC had no comment Thursday on the stories by The Hollywood Reporter       >and Variety. The network had been expected to announce its choice of       >host within the next few weeks, possibly at its May 12 presentation       >for advertisers.               I don't know why I overlooked this before; sorry for that.       Anyway. I keep hearing rumors about Jimmy Fallon being the New Late       Night Host, but I have to admit I still don't get why. It seems kind       of like a repeat of the rumors when Letterman was leaving Late Night       that Dana Carvey or another former-Saturday Night Live-player would       get the post. It was a surprise when someone as obscure as Conan of       April 1993 got the job, but it did also turn out very well; I'm not       sure why they wouldn't try to repeat that good experience.               Has Jimmy Kimmel got something that really powerfully commends       him to a talk show host role?              --        Joseph Nebus       ------------------------------------------------------------------------------              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
