    Hm. That's pretty close to what The Tonight Show did with   
   Carson's departure, isn't it? Carson left on Friday and Leno was   
   there on Monday with that odd endless-curtain opening?   
      
    That does imply that Conan's going to have a *lot* of down   
   time, though, and if I'm not mistaken his longest off-air stretch   
   since 1993 when nobody knew who he was. I imagine most of that will   
   be dedicated to organizing the new show and figuring what to keep and   
   what to lose from Late Night, though.
