   And I was so grumbly about the Amtrak joke, I forgot to mention this...

   It's been extremely rare over the years for Conan to mention an   
   affiliate (even Dave would sometimes do mock "salutes" to affiliates   
   that were celebrating an anniversary), but then here comes this bit,   
   which includes the mention of "WDIV Local 4" several times.   
      
   As you may recall, during the first few years of "Late Night with   
   Conan," WDIV was one of the two affiliates that was significantly   
   delaying the show's start time in favor of syndicated programming.  So I   
   wonder if Conan's trip to Detroit was the result of NBC trying to make   
   nice with WDIV in the hopes that they won't get any big ideas about   
   delaying "The Tonight Show" once Conan takes over.
