Teleports is the only coherent explanation, really. The doom
of the transportation-based industries will follow, but then what
industries aren't doomed these days anyway?

   >(Why didn't they just use the second show taped Tuesday as the Wednesday

It's a mystery to me, and equally mysterious that if I'm not
mistaken Letterman's Friday shows are also taped on Mondays. (Thus
the quips about the last audience that was in here and whatnot.)

It would seem to me that the longer a show is left in the bank,
even if it's just from Tuesday to Thursday, the greater the chance that
something which must be edited out because of developing news. But then
the point, I assume, of pretaping Thursday's show is that they can leave
after Wednesday's taping for whatever it is they're up to all weekend,
and so they want to tape that as soon as possible. Running the second
Tuesday show on Wednesday and then the Wednesday-taped show on Thursday
means you have to have two days's shows that don't *quite* touch on the
daily news too urgently, rather than one.

   	It's still weird.
