|    Final show thoughts    |

From: lugnut@NOSPAMhotmail.com              Well, so that's that, eh? I admit to having not really watched the       show much in the past few years (barely at all since MSNBC stopped       re-running the previous night's show, actually), but nonetheless,       watching it go this week has been a little melancholy, even if I've       been grinning like an idiot through most of the shows.              So what was the feeling on last night's finale? Part of me was       expecting a bigger "event" type show, but in a way, I'm glad it       basically ended as it started, a relatively low-key affair with Conan       and Andy jus' kickin' it, as the youth of 1993 were so apt to say.              On the downside, I thought the selection of clips all week was a       _little_ disappointing, if only because so much of it seemed like       exactly the same clip rolls prepared for the 10th anniversary show.       Somehow for the last week I just figured they'd be digging a little       deeper in the archives than they seemed to. And as for The White       Stripes, well...Conan seemed to like it, but they really kinda       murdered their own song in that particular arrangement. Probably just       as well though, because if it had been played "right," I imagine that       woulda been a somewhat emotional moment for me personally, and who       needs to be bummed out in the middle of a comedy show?              Hope nothing good happened during the credits. My local NBC       apparently felt it was more important to start an airing of the       X-Files movie than to allow the show to end properly, and cut off       right around the time the writers' credits popped up. Sigh.                            -lugnut              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
