I was surprised at the assertion Jordan Schlansky didn't have
health insurance either. But then if we take the assertion at face
value the bit becomes really quite mean. But since it would be not so
funny without the meanness, I suppose the reasonable conclusion is they
figured it would sound somewhat credible as ``alternate uses for extra
money'' and that Jordan Schlansky's silent, unblinking stare had the
   right comic effect.

It'd be more credible if, say, Interns Number 2038 and 2038-B
were un-covered by health insurance, but that'd also make Conan look
unbearably cruel in the bit. Schlansky has a position high enough and
has an established comic persona, putting him more nearly level with
Conan. And he has that silent stare going for him too.
