|    Dave Gahan - Kool Haus Toronto - July 30    |

From: dyanisees@hotmail.com              Here is my short review....              Got to the show at 8:45PM to catch the last few songs of the opener, Kenna.       He was quite good. Prominent vocals backed by heavy keyboards and an array       of synthesizers. The crowd was thick at this point but the back of the room       was a little vacant no doubt due to that other show up in Downsview.              Drinks were moderately priced at $6.50 for an ounce.              Set change took about 25 minutes and when the lights dimmed the audience       roared. The band came out followed by Dave and the crowd exploded into an       even greater fever. He opened with his latest single and the audience       applauded and sang along as if it was a classic already. 5 or 6 more       original tunes were well received but the audience was hungry for some       Depeche tunes and they would not be let down.              If you have ever been to a Depeche Mode concert before, you will know what I       mean when I say "audience participation". Dave Gahan has an amazing aura       and he captures the audience with his every move. A sea of hands moving in       unison is always a sight to see but in this venue, there was an even greater       family vibe due to the smaller size. Everyone was smiling, some with tears       in their eyes as he sang "Policy of Truth"       All in all he sang 7 DM tunes including both encores, one of which was a       scaled down acoustic version of "Personal Jesus". They entire audience were       chanting, "reach out and touch fate!" as he hung his mic stand over the       crowd. Awesome !!              His band is great and he made it a point to let us know that "they love to       play!" no doubt referring to his troubles with DM.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
