   Other terms we use here, apart from 'pissed as a newt' which is the full   
   form of the above term, are 'off his face', 'bladdered' and 'tired and   
   emotional'. The last one is most often said of a politician by his   
   friends after he was extremely drunk in public and they're making excuses   
   for him.
