   This is true - stick-on CD labels turn out to be a very bad ideal. It's   
   also true, in my experience, that you can carefully soak the labels off   
   and the CD will often be playable again, at least well enough to rip   
   its contents or copy it.   
      
   Don't be too quick to abandon your old CD-Rs. They might still be   
   salvageable.
