From: lcargill99@comcast.com              I take the following:              - This is essentially the band that was on SNL, which was my first brush       with Zappa. The SNL performance was more sophisticated than this.       Nothing in this is much like Purple Lagoon.              - The camera loves Ruth. We all ( and we all should ) love Ruth.              - I don't understand Frank's guitar rig. Is he using an Acoustic 370? I       used one of those ( in its proper role as a bass amp ) until it Halted       and Caught Fire in 2006. But I used it for bass.              The Acoustic 370 feels like a McGuffin. Howz' all that on that trolley       fit into that Marshall cab?              - Ah, 1973! In which period it was possible to feel like Music Wuz       Important.              - Stuff like Dog Breath feels very sentimental and naive now.              - So Terry Ted replaced not one but two drummers, and well? A pivot,       well and truly wrought?              ObDisclosure: the Terry Ted years are my preference. Especially with       Adrian Belew. because why not? Up to "Does Humour Belong".              - I am George Duke's Unconstrained Ego. So George is gonna school       Frank, you see...              - Y'know, if you turn Don Caballero up loud enough...              - If I live long enough, I will produce a version of "Achy Breaky Heart"        credibly rendered in 13/8.              - I don't detect the foundations of "Yo Mama" anywhere in this here       recordin'. Which is why I give Terry Ted and his hi hats Creedence here.       Because biology, you see...              - Glad I saw it; it's not that congruent with my slice of the pie. I       just feel, partially I think because of the general tightening of rhythm       between 1973 and 1979, that later things hold up better.              - ( and I say this a lot) at least it's not Return to Forever              --       Les Cargill              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
