The Old              That could well have something to do with it, but also back in the day       there was no Google - only AltaVista - and in any case IIRC I discovered       alt.fan.frank-zappa when there was only e-mail, newsgroups, ftp, WAIS and       Gopher. The Cello and Mosaic Web browsers came later, followed by DECs       AltaVista search engine.
