I am a big fan of craft beer. There's a nice little microbrewery that
opened about a half mile from my house a couple years ago that has
taken hundreds of dollars out of my wallet and probably added 20
   pounds to my waistline.

But their beer selection has, slowly but surely, been taken over by
IPAs. Used to be they'd have one or two IPAs on tap and a healthy
selection of other styles. Now it's twenty IPAs and I'm lucky if they
have one stout or porter or even a lager on tap. The bartender told
me that IPAs are pretty much instant money - the kegs sell out almost
faster than they can put new ones on.

What the fuck is it with IPAs? Why is that all anyone wants to drink
anymore? I can't stand them. Way too bitter. I end up with
heartburn for days after drinking one. I just do not get the appeal.

I kept hoping the IPA thing was a fad that would fade eventually, but
it doesn't seem to be happening. Now there's a whole generation of
drinkers out there who think IPAs are the only "good" type of beer.
   Bah.
