The       player chain (LMS->Touch->Quad) works really well and my rather battered       ears (think 24,000 miles in 10 months in a Landrover, rock concerts and       screaming model engines) think the new setup sounds fine.              The main demerit so far is that, as I rip more albums and the album/       artist/track indexes grow larger, the ability of the Touch and its remote       control to easily find and play an album becomes a bit problematic, so       increasingly I find I'm using the LMS's web interface to select music on       a laptop that just happens to live in the same room as the stereo The       Touch only has a 4.2" touch screen or its remote to navigate with.              >> And don’t you just love those box sets with a whole cd of “ previously       >> unreleased “ tracks? Well, 98/100 times one can see why they were “       >> previously unreleased”.....it’s because they were Terrible!!!       >       Yep - quite a bit of hooky copying goes on too. For a while I've had a       rather good CD of Benny Goodman small group recordings (mainly him, Gene       Krupa on drums and Teddy, Wilson on piano but about half also have Lionel       Hampton on vibes) which calls itself Volume 1. Well, recently I had a       look for Vol 2, but it turns out that was never released, but it *did*       lead me to a 3 disk RCA Victor recording thats widely regarded as       essential listening if you like jazz. I got it and it is, BUT I also       learnt that about half of it was already on the disk I already had: I       wonder how long it took RCA to spot it and object.              > I still haven't attempted plowing through the entire FZ Halloween '77       > box (I ... bought it for the costume).       >       I've been wondering about getting some of them.              I did pick up the Helsinki Road Tapes, which are OK I guess, but not       nearly as good as Roxy By Proxy which is a must-have if you like that       band.                     --       Martin | martin at       Gregorie | gregorie dot org              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
