   About the first I can remember must have been Dame Anna Russell. She was   
   a musical comic who sent up classical music. Her best known piece, which   
   I got to hear while still at school, was a solo version of Wagner's Ring   
   Cycle, which she managed to condense into about 40 minutes, pointed   
   comments and all. Years later I saw the whole thing, uncut, in BBC TV.   
   The Anna Russell version is much preferable, to me anyway.   
      
   The last proper concert was either a performance of "Greggary Peccary" at   
   the Round House in London Gale was there, but I don't remember who the   
   band or the narrator were, or Dweezil and his band in the Cambridge Corn   
   Exchange.   
      
   Last actual live music I heard was last November when a local blues band   
   played the village hall across the road from my usual pub. They make a   
   decent sound, obviously like playing together and have a pretty good   
   guitarist. The beer was good too.
