   One of the best ideas I ever had (circa 1991) was to stop listening to pop   
   music radio programs. Add to that a general avoidance of television and I've   
   managed to avoid a LOT of the pop music that has been played to death over the   
   years.   
      
   In fact, I've even been able to reverse the saturation and start enjoying some   
   of the music of my youth that I'd grown to hate, like Pink Floyd and Led   
   Zeppelin.   
      
   The downside of this practice, of course, is that now I may NEVER discover   
   artists like Beyonce, Kanye West, or The Jonas Brothers.   
      
   I've just had to learn to be content with that.
