(For the info, I was born in 1997)              A lot of searching and pouring through groups. I remembered that I was on       Usenet in the mid-90s, so I started searching for my name in the groups.       Google Groups search function is lousy, though, so it only worked about       halfway. Eventually I found some        posts I made in alt.tv.animaniacs and I found the E-mail address I was posting       from at the time. Based on that I was able to search backwards until I found       this post.              And yeah, it was convoluted back then! I didn't have an ISP, so to get online       I had to dial a terminal server at my local university, then connect from       there to a UNIX system at another university, and from there to "Cybernet"       which was a free BBS that        had Usenet access. From there I started reading Usenet and made my first post       about a subject I was passionate about.              When other people started responding and I realized they loved this stuff as       much as me, it was then that I knew I found my "tribe," and here I am still a       furry 25 freaking years later.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
