From: niccto@aol.com              How well versed in other languages was Doc? I have the feeling he wasn't so.       OK, it seems he know Koine Greek. But, I can't remember him speaking in such a       manner that would lead one to believe he actually could speak it fluently. The       case for Hebrew        would seem even worse. I think I remember him mentioning he read all of the       major biblical scholarly material. Most of the foundational scholarship would       have been in German. Sprechen Sie Deutsch. I'm not sure. From my own       experience in taking a        semester or two of a foreign languages one tries to mimic the spoken nature of       the language and not try to pronounce like a yankee in your own tongue.        Anyone can look up a foreign word and research it to death but that doesn't       mean you know the language        that well enough to be considered fluent in it. Anyone know what his actual       extensive language abilities were?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
