The weekend that George went and campaigned with his father (the weekend
after the spider bite), he supposedly didn't say anything political. It was
reported in Kentucky papers (I'll look for the link) that Nick's "brain
trust" had George keep quiet to limit ammunition. Whether that's true or not
a can't say. The Republicans started using George's name and his political
beliefs as soon as Nick threw his hat into the ring. True, it has become
part of the political game, but IMO, George did a good thing in writing that
   letter.
As far as using a real life event to poke a little light into a situation,
need I mention Bush and his WMD jokes at the Correspondents Dinner?
