Yeah, there are actors who try to take the high ground after they've been
slumming it for swag (Ben Affleck I'm looking at you), but in this case I
think it's more about changing circumstances than changing morals.

15 years ago, Kelly and George were virtual unknowns. They could do a photo
shoot for People and not cause a stir. Today, if George is seen having
*dinner* with a woman, it makes headlines and the paparazzi hound them and
their families for weeks. 15 years ago no one really cared who he lived
with, now there are helicopters circling over his house hoping to get photos
   of a pig. A pig!

Things have really really changed. Today, a press junket means giving up to
100 interviews a day (ugh) and marketing accounts for at least 1/3 to 1/2
the total budget of most movies. I don't have the statistics handy (and no
one really cares) but this is a drastic change from even 10 years ago.
Basically there are a hundred times more outlets all trying to get at the
same old information (and recycling the same information, and doing it
worldwide instantly thanks to the internet), so a magazine spread 20 years
ago and one today would have totally different results. George makes a
passing comment about marriage to a reporter in L.A. and the Bangkok Herald
runs it as front page news the same day. Think about that! Yikes!

I'm not saying he's above being a hypocrite, but I think his choices have
changed dramatically, in every aspect of his life.
