Oh I didn't mean to imply GC would be aware of (or affected by) anything
   that went on here! LOL!

No my point was that he, like any celeb, is surrounded by strangers who have
already formed opinions about him before he walks into a room. I used this
newsgroup as an *example* of what happens in everyday life. Just an example.

Imagine walking out the door today and everyone you meet already knows
personal details about your life. Now imagine that more than half of what
they know is totally inaccurate. Finally imagine that, on top of all this,
you are asked to live up to their individual expectations all of the time.
Anything short of that doesn't make you merely human, it makes you "stupid",
"messed up" or an asshole. These are the pressures of public life. It'll
   give anyone nightmares imo.

The irony comes from saying "gee, why would he have bad dreams about people
thinking they know him?" and then proceeding form judgements about his
character as if any of us know him. The question just answered itself. :-)

Notice, I didn't say it was *wrong* for us to discuss him or form negative
opinions about his character, only ironic to complain when someone does the
   same thing about us.

I also can't buy into the idea that it's fine to say things behind someone's
back (or out of their earshot) that wouldn't be ok to say to their face. The
reason I can't buy into that is b/c that would be duplicitous. It'd be darn
ironic to condemn GC's actions as duplicitous while we ourselves are being
   ..wait for it ..duplicitous.

My entire boring post here can be summed up with a little diagram of stones
   and glass houses :-).
