From: solans@gmail-removethisifyou'renotaspammer-.com              THIS HALLOWEEN: MONSTERS! Reptilian, Simian and ... Human              Saturday, October 29 at 3:30 PM       "King Kong vs. Godzilla"       Starring Michael Keith, James Yagi, Tadao Takashima       (1964 - 91 mins - Color)       Two of the most famous oversized, stomp-em, crush-em monsters in movie       history are pitted against each other in this campy classic from Japan's       Toho studios. This is the American version - the one we all grew up       watching on TV - dubbed into English and with scenes starring an       American actor added. It's a must-see for fans of the famous Japanese       series (one of the longest running franchises in film history) and a lot       of campy fun and action for everyone!              Saturday, October 29 at 7 PM       "Godzilla"       (The Restored Original Version, In Japanese With English Subtitles)       Starring Akira Takarada, Kin Sugai, Takashi Shimura. Directed by Ishiro       Honda.       (1954 - 98 mins - B&W)       One of the longest-running series in film history began with Ishiro       Honda's grim allegory for the devastation wrought on Japan by the atomic       bomb. A gigantic mutant dinosaur is awakened from the bottom of the sea       and wreaks havoc and destruction on Japan. The original, Japanese       version is chilling, despite less than perfect man-in-a-suit special       effects, and treats its serious theme sensitively, yet includes some       dark, Dr. Strangelove-esque humor. Most Americans, however, have only       seen the American cut - which edited out 40 minutes of the original,       inserted new, Hollywood footage starring a pre-Perry Mason Raymond Burr,       and has one of the most famously bad dub-into-English jobs in movie       history. The restored Godzilla may take a little getting used to for       audiences raised on the U.S. cut, it will be worth it.              Saturday, October 29 at 9:15 PM       "Masque of the Red Death" -       Starring Vincent Price, Hazel Court, Jane Asher, David Weston. Directed       by Roger Corman       (1964 - 90 mins - Color)       This is one of those movies that left an indelible impression on those       who saw it when it premiered. This was due to Vincent Price's thoroughly       chilling performance, very effective cinematography and what was, for       its time, a rather racy scene of the heroine in a bathtub. This all       holds up remarkably well decades later. Masque of the Red Death was one       of a series of adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe stories, but unlike many       of the others, this film has little or no camp in it, and instead played       the story straight for unsettling chills. During a devastating       12th-century plague called "The Red Death," the decadent,       devil-worshipping Prince Prospero holds court over a bizarre masked       ball. Two innocent peasants manage to escape intact, but they go through       the torments of the Damned to do so.              Admission for each screening is $6 for Adults; $4 for Seniors and       Children aged 12 and under. Combo ticket of $10 Adult / $6 Senior &       Child for 2 screenings; $15 / $10 for a super combo of all 3 screenings       - get a FREE popcorn with the purchase of each super combo ticket.              The Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre presents its classic films on a 50       foot wide screen using carbon arc illumination for the brightest,       whitest light.              The Loew's Jersey Theatre, located at 54 Journal Square, Jersey City, is       easily reached by car or mass transit from throughout the Metropolitan       Area.              Discount off-street parking is now available in the adjoining Square       Ramp Garage. Patrons present a coupon as they exit the garage. Coupon       provided at our box office.              For directions or additional information, call (201) 798-6055 or visit       www.loewsjersey.org              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
