   1888: JIM THORPE, who played a New York theatergoer in "King Kong", is   
   born in Prague, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). Thorpe is considered   
   the greatest athlete of the first half of the 20th century, being a   
   football and baseball star and winning the pentathlon and decathlon in   
   the 1912 Olympics.   
      
   1899: RICHARD LANE, who played an attorney in "Mighty Joe Young", is   
   born in Rice Lake, Wis.   
      
   1903: LOUIE ANDERSON, grip on "Mighty Joe Young", is born in Denver.   
      
   1921: EDDIE BOLAND, who played a reporter/photographer in the original   
   "King Kong", marries Jean Hope.
