   While Japan's most famous director had no direct involvement in kaiju eiga, he   
   was a fan of Godzilla, was a good friend of Ishiro Honda (who served as   
   assistant director on    
   Kurosawa’s early and later films), and many cast and crew (actors Takashi   
   Shimura and Yoshio Tsuchiya, composer Masaru Sato) worked in both kinds of

   Monsters All-Out Attack", dies at 77 of acute pneumonia in Fukuoka.
