By the same token, if I was to say that I       think G-Fan is a poor excuse for a fanzine as it makes Godzilla fandom       look bad due to murky photos, repetitious articles, biased points of view       and secondhand rumors passed as fact then since it's just my opinion no       one should get upset. If so, I guess we're all cool here.              > How about sharing some new information on the upcoming Godzilla film.       > Do you have any insight into that. Share what you know, and ignore       > posts you don't like.              Want to know something? I know everything about the new film. I read the       script; I was on the set. But I'm NOT posting info. That's NOT how it       works. You don't just toss information out like leaves to the wind.       Information gets released in steps in order to build excitement and       anticipation. This is pretty basic stuff. Well, for a pro, that is.              See, I know my job and I do it. And if you are wondering what my job is:       In the case of Godzilla, it's to understand the workings of the       production, to understand the thoughts and motivations of the filmmakers       and finally, to turn this understanding into articles that will allow       readers to share this understanding. I've done this for five Godzilla       films to date. I must be doing something right to last this long.              Now here's my point: even if I don't always agree with the filmmakers,       I'm not arrogant to the point where I employ pissant tactics and accuse       them of near sins against Tsuburaya / Honda / Tanaka. That's otaku       nonsense. The creative decisions are not for me to judge. Godzilla fandom       is not strong enough to support such biased reporting. This is why,       cease-fire or not, I expect people in responsible positions to act adult       and do the RIGHT thing. I have entries in the Millennium series that I       like over others, but if you read my Fangoria pieces or my pieces in       Hobby Japan (if you can read Japanese) I bet you'd be hard-pressed to       tell. I treat all equally. Both Kaneko and Tezuka know this about me and       this is why they both support my work.              Or are you saying that people with influential voices in Godzilla fandom       should use their platform as outlets for their jealousies and hatred? If       you do, then this fandom is even more far gone than I imagined.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
