But this has been a problem with Japanese cinema throughout its       history, which is why I don't blame Kaneko directly. For example, how many       F'N Spielberg-wannabe directors have we had to sit through over the past 30       years? How many film scores are studio-mandated to sound like bad John       Williams? The more that occurs, the more influenced the next generation of       filmmakers will believe that is correct cinema, unless they learn film       history. Kaneko, IMO, seems more deeply influenced by manga than film per       say, which he funnels through a kaiju perspective.                     "Wolf" |
