From: jordzilla@epix.net              > I shelled out the $21 for Kenako's All Out Monster Attack , mostly       because I want to support these US releases ... and I think it's the best G       film in a looooong time...              Agreed! I loved GMK a lot (it goes great with the Gamera Trilogy.... if you       have a day off and are in a kaiju kind of mood)!              .... but for the life of me I can't see paying anymore than $10 for        the Meguirus (sp-?) flick ...              MEGAGUIRUS ;-)              >I thought it was one of the worst efforts in a looooong time ...              I also agree. I was really disappointed with it. Swarms of killer bugs led       by a GIANT single bug has been done better in "Godzilla vs. Destroyah" and       "Gamera: Advent of Legion," especially the latter. G vs. Megaguirus was       pretty bad but you need it if you're a true Godzilla fan! Just like you need       Godzilla's Revenge!              >what's the take on the two newer flicks . the Mecha do-overs... ?              I liked Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla however the human drama in the story       kind of sucks. MechaG is somewhat impressive (in that his skeleton and DNA       are that of the original Godzilla) and it was good to see some old footage       of past kaiju films (including "War of the Gargantuas!!!" The only movie       where a Mazer effectively wounds a daikaiju!). Overall it's one of the       better entries into the recent series of G-Films (probably a notch above       Godzilla 2000). Still waiting for GXMGXM: Tokyo S.O.S.              > And where are the best prices... ?              Well Wal-Mart doesn't carry them as far as I've seen, Circuit City didn't       have them last time I checked, but Best Buy did and they wanted $20.99 + tax       for each one. That's the best price I have seen. I'm sure you can find them       cheaper on Amazon and other online retailers. Or you could go the really       cheap route and either by a DVD-R or a VCD of the films.... but that's if       you're desperate and low on cash. ;-) I'm looking forward to seeing what       Ryuhei Kitamura does for Godzilla: Final Wars by the way. I loved VERSUS and       I think he has what it takes to send Godzilla out in a big way.... or just       make a bad kaiju film with flashy effects or a paper-thin plot. That way it       can fit in well with the last few G-films. ;-)       - Jordan       --       The B-Movie Film Vault       http://www.geocities.com/jrgdawg/       Fighting the Good Fight for B-Movie Lovers Since June 5, 2000!              Also a Proud Member (and Founder) of the Rogue Reviewers:       www.roguereviewers.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
