   CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION

The ADV Films DVD release is letterboxed, not anamorphic... but if you have
a fondness and recall the original dubbed US release, you will be in for a
shock when you hear it. Sound quality is so-so, but for unfathomable
reasons, it is re-dubbed with a Man from New York-esque narrator, and
cartoon character-ish voices for the actors. It sounds oh so stupid, and it
is a slap in the face to fans, and is no doubt responsible for driving away
potential new fans. The original dubbed US release was completely unedited
from the Japanese material, except for moving the titles and theme music to
the end of the film. The dialogue was true to the original Japanese
material. The dialogue in this DVD was re-written to what must have been
   third grade-level in the '50's.

This new release has to be better. If not, with the prices of DVD recorders
down to attainable levels, it may do for you to preserve your VHS copy on
   DVD.
