   But Snape willingly gave them to Harry. Harry never had to get a   
   memory form somebody. Kreacher sort of. But all that took was   
   listening to Hermione, and treating him with some respect. Not   
   exactly the training DD gave Harry in memory retrieval (And no potions   
   to aid him in the real world.)   
      
   Perhaps the pensive doesn't work after a traumatic experience. Having   
   just seen Cedric die (by whatever means), Harry's mind might not be   
   able to produce the real memory in it's agitated state, Snape might   
   have done it right through pure necessity and will power. Which I   
   doubt a 14 year old cool do.
