I thought this movie was most true to the books than many of the
   others beforehand"

Given the Author bloat that J.K. Rowling fell into after the fourth
book in the series, I don't know that being true to the book is
necessarily the best thing for this Harry Potter movie. Some times
what works brilliantly on paper needs to be cut or treated
differently on the Silver screen - 30 pages of Gollum whingeing while
climbing a mountain with Bilbo and Sam was blissfully summarised in
Peter Jackson's "Return of the King".

To me, the best Harry Potter movies were those that took the main
story arcs and characters and used them to tell the story. Those that
tried to include every little detail for the fans didn't flow.
