From: deevo37@NOSPAMbigpond.com              And overall I was pleasantly surprised bu the film adaptation.              I skipped this one at the cinema mainly because I felt that in breaking the       seventh book into two parts, WB would be making this a cash generating       action fest rather than telling the story of the book. There was some       pretty intense action in the film but not so over the top as to diminish the       story telling even though there were a coouple of small scenes that were       deleted that I felt would have fleshed out the story a bit further.              If part 2 keeps the story going effectively this could potentially be the       filmic adaption that actually improves on the book. I've made no bones in       the past that I felt this is the weakest of the latter books. Personally I       get the impressionm that much of it was written by Rowling around the same       time as the Philosopher's Stone and she just fleshed out and refined the       work rather than writing the story from scratch. I felt that the style of       the book seemed to take a backward step after book 6 (my personal favourite       of the books) and this is what gave me that impression.              On the whole there were still elements of the film that required a reading       of the book to understand so, like some of the previous films, it would have       presented some difficulties in comprehenstion but on the whole it was pretty       good. Not Academy award winning stuff mind you but a fair filmic adaption.              As films go I'd give it a solid three and a half out of five stars.              P.S. The seven Harrys scene is a pretty decent chuckle on its own.       --       Deevo       Geraldton Western Australia              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
