Mr. Dicks, I don't know if you have read any of the books. I know many
people haven't and just watch the movies. I think there is a problem
with that, but that it's not entirely of your making.

The books are far richer than the movies (isn't that always the way).
The series of 7 books are like one long mystery and in each book a new
answer is revealed leading us closer to the ultimate reveal in book 7.
The movies were produced and released as the books were still being
written and Rowling guarded her the answers to her mysteries very
passionately and I'm pretty sure she didn't want to reveal too much to
the movie makers for fear of exposing those secrets.

That being the case, and coupled with the movies being adaptations
(something I understand as an avid reader and movie goer; I never
expect a movie to be exactly like the book, only that the SPIRIT of
the book and the characters be present), many plot points were left
out as the series went along because the movie makers didn't realize
that that particular plot point would be important later.
