   I agree with your assessment to a point but not your reasoning.  I   
   personally found HBP to be an above average book and certainly more   
   entertaining, though with less exposition, than OOTP.  I'd go as far to say   
   it was my favourite of the books despite it's dire conclusion.   
      
   DH by comparison I found to be quite ordinary and seemed to be written more   
   in the style of the first two books which makes me suspect that great chunks   
   of it were penned around the time of the first and second books.   
      
   From POA through to HBP the characters grew more complex and three   
   dimensional yet by book seven they seemed to have been reduced in depth.   
   That and there were some pretty blatant contridictions with the earlier   
   books.

   If your not expecting academy award standard stuff then you might enjoy it.
