I have read very extensively about the alchemical process and I can
assure you that it was obvious that some writers on the subject didn't
have a clue - and I mean obvious even to someone like me who also
   hardly had a clue. ;)

For a long time - years, in fact - I have assumed that Ms Rowling used
symbolism deliberately, with a commanding grasp of its meaning, and
that it refers to a hidden theme.

Book five, 'Order of Phoenix', has many parallels to Day 5 of 'The
Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz'. Not only is it Book 5 of
7 in 'Harry Potter' and day 5 out of 7 in The Chymical Wedding, but
the symbolism within the two sequences is also similar.

I read The Chymical Wedding in hopes of understanding Harry Potter
better, but The Chymical Wedding is not easy to read or to understand.
I can't imagine Ms Rowling using the symbolism from the 5th Day
*without* understanding what it is about.

Since the parallels are so strong and extensive, I conclude that Ms.
Rowling is using the symbolism with the **same intent as the writer*
of The Chymical Wedding and referring to a similar hidden subject.

   She knew. ;)
