   An atomic physicist might explain the planes as frequencies or   
   vibration patterns of atoms and in my mind, he would be accurate.   
      
   The ether(ic) plane consists of four states; chemical, life, light and   
   reflection...as ethers. Somewhere along our path mankind lost the   
   ability to see but can still sense these ethers. This is why the   
   leprechauns, the gnomes and other such etheric creatures were often   
   mentioned in times past.   
      
   Dobby is freed just as the alchemist can free himself to the physical   
   (only) plane.
