Continually but to what matter is it?

   Two things you might consider.

   1) Alchemy has been badly and purposefully misrepresented - voodoo
chemistry, the chemistry of fools, etc. - it takes a renewed
examination from a non-materialistic POV. Few choose to do this, it's
tragically out of their reach or so they would have you believe.

   2) If there is anything to learn from Harry (GoF/OOtP) it is that if
you hang your emotions and worth on the acceptance and opinion of
others, you will find Mr. Self-Pity and Mrs. Pathos as you new, best
   friends ;)

Alchemy and in particular alchemical literature are re-emerging
science and art. "It's tough on point" (U.S. Army Rangers, ~1970) ;>)
