   In the alchemical transformation (transmutation) of the spirit to soul   
   (and vice-versa) to form an eternal oneness, there are three stages   
      
   1) Nigredo (black)   
   2) Albedo (white)   
   3) Rubedo (red)   
      
   OoTP is Ms. Rowling's nigredo work. It is where Harry is dissolved,   
   torn down, "putrefied" just as the alchemist breaks down into elements   
   that which he is attempting to create the Philosopher's Stone from   
   (any base metal). Sirius Black both leads and releases Harry (by his   
   death) and is the central character in Harry's spiritual Nigredo   
   stage.   
      
   I believe tha OOtP is the longest work symbolically. In each of us,   
   the tearing down to rebuild is the most difficult and encompassing   
   task.
