   I had gotten the impression that Dobby had come on his own to warn Harry not   
   to return to Hogwarts!  When Harry rejected the warning, Dobby performed the   
   Hover Charm, possibly in hopes of either causing Harry's guardians to lock him   
   up and thus keep him    
   away from Hogwarts, or to get Harry expelled.
