XPost: rec.arts.tv.mst3k.misc       From: NOSPAM.FrankLho@rcn.com              How would you describe the relationship between Joel / Mike and the 'bots?       At times, Joel / Mike and the robots behave like three single men sharing       living quarters, sort of like "The Odd Couple", except that this is a trio,       and they share a space station instead of an apartment.              In many host segments, however, Joel / Mike seem to behaving like a single       father, rearing Tom and Crow, sort of like "My Three Sons", except that       there are only two sons, and they are both robots, and T.V.'s Frank is a       poor substitute for Uncle Charlie. A perfect example of this can be found in       the "Hercules Unchained" episode. After Hercules drinks the water of       forgetfulness, evil Queen Omphale convinces our hero that he is the king,       her husband. During a host segment, the 'bots ask Joel what does Herc do all       day at Queel Omphale's palace. Joel looks rather embarrassed, as though he       cannot answer the question without triggering a premature "Birds and the       Bees" (or maybe "Nuts and Bolts"?) lecture.              So how do you view the human-robot relationships on the "Satelite of Love"?       Are these just a trio of swinging batchelors? Are they a single father and       his two sons, looking for an intergalactic equivalent of Florence Henderson?       Or is it more like the relation between an agent and his clients? Or more       like the relationship between Colin Clive and Boris Karloff? Between Willard       and his rats? Between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez? (Now that's scary)              --       "All things extant in this world,       Gods of Heaven, gods of Earth,       Let everything be as it should be;       Thus shall it be!"       - Magical chant from "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi"              "Drizzle, Drazzle, Drozzle, Drome,       Time for this one to come home!"       - Mr. Lizard from "Tooter Turtle"              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
